United States – Deep Dish Pizza Recipe
Ingredients for the dough
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 standard yeast packet
- 1 Teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 cups white flour
- ½ cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup butter
- Extra virgin olive oil
Ingredients for tomato sauce
- 13 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ½ oz sausages
- 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
Combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, and yeast in the bowl. Slowly, add the warm water and 1/2 cup of melted butter. Beat the dough until it is soft. Form the dough into a ball, mix it with olive oil, cover it with a towel and let it rest for 1 hour.
Place butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add the grated onion, salt, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Add tomatoes and turn the heat down to low-medium.
After the dough ball have risen roll it out on a lightly floured work surface. Press the dough into our Happy Day® container and fill the pizza with mozzarella cheese, sausage and tomato sauce. Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 419F preheated oven. Remove the pizza from the oven and add grated parmesan cheese.
