Molise – Frustingo RecipeRedazione Contital
2 lb of dried figs
7 oz of mixed grapes
11 oz of seedless raisins
1 lb of mixed nuts, almonds and walnuts
7 oz of candied orange and cedar
2 oz of powdered coffee
1 cup of coffee
1 ½ cup of powdered cacao
¾ cup of sugar
¾ cup of rum
¾ cup of anisette
¾ cup of extra virgin olive oil
Nutmeg and cinnamon
Boil the dried figs and the mixed grapes in a pan with enough water. Take the pan off the heat and leave the figs to soak overnight in the water used to boil them. The following day combine figs and grapes with all the ingredients, mix well. Let mixture sit for 10 minutes.
Put the mixture in the Happy Day aluminium container and decorate the cake with nuts, almonds and walnuts. Bake until golden (35 minutes), then refrigerate until cool and firm. Take a toothpick and insert it into the centre of the Frustingo to check if it is done.
