Italian Villages – Paesana Cake Recipe
- 4 1/2 cups whole milk
- 5 oz sugar
- 11 oz stale bread
- 3 eggs
- 3 1/2 macaroons
- 2 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 oz pine nuts
- 3 oz raisins
- 1 orange zest and juice
Cut the bread into cubes and, at the same time, heat the milk in a saucepan. Remove it from the heat just before it boils and pour it on the bread together with the orange zest. Cover with a plastic wrap and let cool for about forty minutes.
Meanwhile, soak the raisins in the orange juice. Once the bread has cooled, add the cocoa, beaten eggs and crumbled macaroons. Mix the ingredients with a spatula and also add the sugar, pine nuts and drained raisins.
Once you have a well blended mixture, pour it into our Happy Day aluminum container and bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° for at least an hour. Serve the Paesana Cake warm with the addition of pine nuts or orange zest to decorate.
