Lazio – Pangiallo Recipe

Ingredients

  • 200 gr almonds
  • 200 g walnuts
  • 200 gr hazelnuts
  • 300 gr raisins
  • 200 gr pine nuts
  • 100 gr candies
  • 1 ½ cup flour
  • ¾ cup honey
  • 5 oz chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 lemon zest

Frosting

  • ¼ cup flour
  • Saffron
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

 

Direction

Soak raisins in water for about 30 minutes. Heat in a pot honey, orange and lemon zest. Crush almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts and pine nuts. Add candies, soaked raisins, dark chocolate. Mix honey and flour.  Mix all the ingredients. Knead the dough and cut it in different parts. Let them rest for about 2 hours.

 

Baking

 Make frosting heating flour, saffron, oil and water. Brush the parts of Pangiallo and bake them at 356F for about 40 minutes.
