Traditional Oven – Onion Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- 500 gr onions
- 1 l hot strongly-flavoured beef stock
- 50 gr butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- Pepper
- Salt
- 4-8 slices French bread
- 100 gr cheese (Gruyรจre)
Directions
Put 1kg halved and thinly sliced onions in a large pan and melt 50g butter with 1 tbsp olive oil. Fry for 20 mins until soft and, then, add flour and sugar. Mix all the ingredients and gradually add 1.l hot strongly-flavoured beef stock. Cover and simmer for 30 mins. Add salt and pepper.
Baking
In the meantime, toast 4-8 slices French bread for few minutes. Ladle the soup into our Flan containers, put a slice of bread on top of the Flan and pile on your cheese finely grated. Put in the oven for about 10 minutes at 480ยฐF and serve the soup hot.
